Présentation
The volume attempts to explore the episcopal authority in medieval Europe from different perspectives. Prestige, influence and actual power can manifest themselves in different ways, with the written word playing a central role. Three previously unknown or unpublished texts will also be presented: a council record from Arles, a biblical commentary by Hraban Maur, and an anonymous sermon.
